Young Writers Program

NaNoWriMo and HomeSchooling.

YIKES is all I can say!

The picture is linked to YWP NaNoWriMo

No I’m not crazy. Well, yes I am but that’s beside the point and it’s really not because of home-schooling OR my kids.

It’s just me.

I do believe, however that I have found a good way to “use” NaNoWriMo to help Home-school.

I don’t have a “classroom” on the YWP website. No teacher profile or any official setup on there. But I did sign up the kiddos to do NaNoWriMo for the month.

What better tool can you think of to teach your kids about creative writing? Really? Now, they aren’t aiming for 50,000 words. I may be crazy but I’m not stupid. LOL!

I’m just thinking the daily writing practice is good for them.

And it’s a GREAT teaching tool!

Have you checked out the Young Writer’s Program part of NaNoWriMo? It’s a separate website and it’s devoted to Young Writers.

Now, I know there are also young writers who chose to use the regular NaNoWriMo website but I personally think the YWP part is safer. All the users there are supposed to be kids. And you have a lot more freedom about who can see their page and who can friend them and so on.

By the way… if you’ve read this and you’re wondering what the heck NaNoWriMo is. Click HERE and check out the main website

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The idea is to write 50,000 words in 30 days – in the month of November. Crazy right? Maybe. But it’s fun!
